About the role

We are seeking a dedicated High School Teacher to help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, knowledgeable, and responsible individuals. This role requires a passion for teaching, a commitment to student success, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse school community.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the school's mission and educational standards while assisting in enforcing student conduct policies.
  • Protect students and school property, maintain accurate records, and continually improve professional skills.
  • Attend staff meetings, serve on committees, and foster cooperative relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Collaborate with other staff to create an effective educational environment.
  • Plan and deliver lessons that meet students' individual needs.
  • Create an engaging and orderly learning environment and use positive behavior interventions.
  • Assess and document student progress, address learning challenges with specialist support, and meet the needs of special program students.
  • Oversee and evaluate the performance of educational assistants and volunteers.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid teacher certification appropriate for the specific assignment and grade level as required by federal, state, or local regulations, including the No Child Left Behind Act.
  • Prior experience or formal training in working with “at-risk” students is preferred.
  • Proven ability to work in a polite and friendly manner with various constituencies including parents, students, and staff.
  • Ability to effectively educate and manage students from diverse backgrounds and socio-economic levels.
  • Experience in effectively handling conflict.
