Duties And Responsibilities
- Plans and implements the instructional program for students with disabilities in assigned subject area(s)
- Employs a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials using high leverage special education practices to meet the range of student abilities and needs, including available instructional technology
- Maintains student records and Individual Education Plans as required by the school, school division, state of Virginia and federal policies, procedures, regulations and laws
- Participates in the Virginia testing program by utilizing appropriate instructional strategies to assist students in the highest levels of achievement
- Works cooperatively with supervisors and colleagues in order to ensure continuous improvement in providing the highest quality educational program and the safest and most inviting educational environment
- Participates in professional development opportunities for personal and professional growth
- Works cooperatively with supervisors and colleagues in order to ensure continuous improvement in providing the highest quality educational program and the safest and most inviting educational environment
- Maintains a professional image in the school and the community as a representative of the school division
- Maintains the appropriate license for the Special Education assignment in the state of Virginia
Minimum Training And Experience
- Four year degree from an accredited college or university on the state of Virginia approved list
- Virginia license in Special Education General Curriculum K-12 or Special Education Adaptive Curriculum K-12 required
- Endorsement in Special Education General Curriculum K-12 and Special Education Adaptive Curriculum K-12 preferred
