About the role
The Special Education Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in the Denver Metropolitan Area.
Responsibilities
- Designing and delivering individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs
- Ensuring instruction aligns with school standards and state requirements
- Adapting curriculum
- Providing direct instructional support in small groups and inclusive classrooms
- Monitoring student progress
- Maintaining accurate documentation
- Collaborating with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to develop strategies that support academic, social, and behavioral growth
- Participating in IEP meetings
- Implementing accommodations and modifications
- Contributing to a positive, inclusive school culture
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience working with students with disabilities, including understanding of IEPs and specialized interventions
- Demonstrated teaching skills in K–12 settings, with preference for experience at the middle school level
- Training and background in special education, including instructional strategies, behavior supports, and progress monitoring
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with students, families, colleagues, and support staff
- A valid teaching license with appropriate special education endorsement, or eligibility to obtain certification as required by state regulations
- Ability to use data to inform instruction and to document student growth effectively
- Experience working in inclusive classroom settings and supporting co-teaching models is beneficial
- Commitment to equity, culturally responsive practices, and fostering a safe, respectful learning environment
