Special Education Teacher

About the Role

Special Education Teacher position at Phillips Elementary School. The ideal candidate will hold a DPI License 1809 (Early Childhood) or DPI License 1801 (Cross-Categorical).

Responsibilities

• Team teach with an emphasis on reading and language arts.
• Design instructional content for multiple subject areas aligned to individual IEP’s.
• Work effectively with special education students.
• Use technology to enhance student performance.
• Create developmentally appropriate learning experiences using research-based interventions for reading, math, and behavior.
• Complete IEP paperwork and manage timelines for annual IEP meetings and evaluations.
• Manage challenging behaviors.
• Collaborate as a team member, relating well to students, parents, and staff.
• Stay current with technology use in the classroom.

Requirements

• Demonstrated success in team teaching, particularly in reading and language arts.
• Experience designing instructional content tailored to individual IEP’s.
• Experience working with special education students.
• Flexibility and adaptability in teaching approaches.
• Ability to use technology to support student learning.
• Knowledge of research-based interventions for reading, math, and behavior.
• Ability to manage IEP paperwork and timelines.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
