Special Education Teacher

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee special education caseloads in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations
• Coordinate and facilitate IEP meetings and annual reviews
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, progress monitoring, and compliance records
• Collaborate with general education teachers, service providers, administrators, and families to support student success
• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned students and families
• Provide direct instruction and/or specially designed instruction as assigned
• Support the implementation of accommodations, modifications, and individualized educational programming
• Participate in virtual staff meetings, professional development, and team collaboration activities

Requirements

• Required Qualifications: Active South Dakota Special Education Teacher Certification (REQUIRED)
• Certification must be active and in good standing prior to the start of employment
• Minimum of one year of experience in special education case management and/or instruction preferred
• Strong knowledge of IDEA regulations, IEP development, and special education compliance requirements
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with school teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience providing virtual instruction or services
• Experience managing a large or diverse special education caseload
• Familiarity with online IEP management systems and virtual learning platforms
