About the role

As a Special Education Teacher, you will have the opportunity to change lives through education by connecting and working one-on-one with students needing special support. You will develop and apply personalized learning approaches and programs that support their growth, progress, and success.

Responsibilities

  • Create a classroom environment that cultivates learning, engages students' interests, and allows them to perform at their best.
  • Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide students through activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth.
  • Explore individual needs and provide side-by-side support to discover how each student best learns, developing personalized solutions.
  • Master the proven curriculum and implement the school’s philosophy of education to guide students toward achieving curriculum goals.
  • Evaluate each student’s learning capabilities and celebrate their accomplishments.
  • Encourage students to uphold school values and model mature behavior and good character in all aspects of their lives.
  • Participate in events outside of normal hours.
  • Be active in the role, including light lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus, and traveling to other campuses as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or more advanced degree.
  • Current K-12 Special Education Mild/Moderate OR Special Education Moderate/Severe teaching certificate within the state the position is located.
  • Passion for teaching, helping others learn, and celebrating their success.
  • Ability to create positive energy, fuel school spirit, and inspire others.
  • Composure, integrity, and compassion in handling matters.
  • Willingness to immerse yourself in significant connections with students, parents, and fellow educators.
  • Meet state-specific background check requirements, including state and national criminal history checks.
