About the role
The Special Education Teacher will bring an energetic and positive approach while working with our youth in a 16-bed Intensive Residential Treatment Program (IRTP) for emotionally disturbed adolescent males. The primary mission is to treat and rehabilitate these adolescents, enhancing their growth and coping skills.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement structured lesson plans
- Build a therapeutic rapport with our youth
- Work collaboratively with the special education team to provide academic support
- Attend meetings with family members, collateral professionals, and other teams to address academic needs
- Help our youth discover what makes them feel competent and valued by working with them to develop important life skills
- Support the youth in developing a sense of self and providing them with the skills to be successful in their next steps
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must be licensed by the Massachusetts DESE for Special Education Moderate Disabilities 5-12
- Relevant experience with grades 5-12 preferred
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and leadership abilities
- Knowledge of the needs of the population served; understanding of the range of interventions and treatment required by this population
- Maintains valid driver’s license as transporting students is required

Pay
The pay range for this position is $52,000 to $94,000 per year. The actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, and qualifications.
