About the role
Bay Cove Academy is a therapeutic day school specializing in trauma-informed services for students ages 12-22 with complex trauma histories, mental health issues, educational challenges, and/or behavioral difficulties. The school offers a supportive environment addressing education, clinical, pre-vocational, recreational, and behavioral needs through individual, group, nursing, and milieu counseling.
Responsibilities
- Teach middle and high school aged students in a licensed Special Education capacity.
- Utilize and apply the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework in content area subjects.
- Work with students in a clinically appropriate manner while maintaining a challenging learning environment.
- Experience working with students in an alternative school setting is preferred.
- Collaborate with the educational, clinical, nursing, and vocational departments using an interdisciplinary approach.
Requirements
- Massachusetts teaching license in Content Area.
- Moderate Special Education License (preferred but not required).
- Knowledge of the needs of the population served and understanding of required interventions.
- Acceptable CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and OIG background check.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and leadership abilities.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $52,000 to $94,000 per year. The actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, licensure, certifications, and qualifications.
Schedule
Full-time schedule is typically 40 hours per week.
