Special Education Teacher

About the role

Green Tree School & Services in Philadelphia provides full-time, out-of-district programs for students with autism and emotional support needs. The school offers integrated clinical, behavioral, and academic services, empowering students to achieve independence while upholding values of safety, inclusion, and excellence.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver individualized instruction tailored to each student’s individual goals
• Foster a supportive classroom environment
• Collaborate closely with therapists, counselors, and families to promote each student’s academic, social, and emotional growth
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), lesson plans, and instructional strategies
• Maintain accurate documentation, including IEPs, progress reports, and evaluation summaries
• Collaborate with therapists, counselors, and families to support student progress and consistency across settings
• Manage classroom structure and implement behavior support strategies to promote positive outcomes
• Conduct assessments, track progress, and monitor behavior data to inform instruction and interventions

Requirements

• Active Pennsylvania Teaching Certification, such as a Private Academic Certificate or Level I/II PA Instructional Special Education Certification (K–12)
• Candidates with a bachelor’s degree and at least six credit hours in special education may qualify for a Temporary Private Academic Certificate Authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to inclusive practices, student safety, and professional growth
