Special Education Teacher
LifeWorks School in Media, PA is hiring certified Special Education Teachers for the 2026-2027 academic school year. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates.
About the School
LifeWorks Schools are licensed specialty therapeutic day schools for middle and high school students affected by social, emotional, or behavioral health challenges. Our comprehensive educational curriculum is individualized and designed to actively engage each student throughout the day, aiming for positive, pro-social behavioral and educational outcomes. We balance academic rigor with a continuum of evidence-based educational and therapeutic supports.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic and functional instruction to students diagnosed with Autism or Pervasive Developmental Disorder in a school setting.
- Monitor student academic and functional achievement through data collection, observation, and other quantitative methods.
- Observe and record student progress daily.
- Develop and monitor students’ IEPs, reports, goals, and objectives; attend IEP meetings.
- Establish, maintain, and work toward student goals as outlined in the IEP.
- Manage student behavior through individualized motivational systems, the S.M.A.R.T. Program, and positive behavior support plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (required).
- PA certification in Special Education (required).
- Content area certifications (preferred).
- Prior experience working with students with behavioral health challenges in a school setting (preferred).
