Special Education Teacher

The Teacher serves as the transdisciplinary team leader and classroom manager, acting as the case manager for assigned pupils.

Responsibilities

• Establish and monitor individual casebooks, data collection, and charting systems
• Manage behavioral challenges
• Supervise and manage activities of aides assigned to the classroom
• Assure that appropriate curriculum is established and implemented
• Organize an effective classroom environment
• Administer appropriate and effective instructional strategies
• Coordinate and collaborate with Support Service Personnel
• Collaborate and effectively communicate with families and external service providers
• Demonstrate professional knowledge of children with developmental disabilities
• Demonstrate professional writing skills
• Assure deadlines are met
• Adhere to The Summit Center Core Agency Values of Adaptability, Accountability, Collaboration, Integrity, Optimism, and Respect

Requirements

• NYS Special Education Permanent certificate or Students with Disabilities B-2, 1-6, or All Grades (or actively working toward certification)
• Ability to consistently and successfully perform the essential functions of the position

Pay

Starting salary from $63,000. Competitive pay structure.

Schedule

Full-time, 37.5-hour work week, 12-month position.
