About the role

Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy (BROD) is seeking a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree teacher certified in Special Education. Candidates should have 3+ years of experience working with special education students in a school setting, with a strong understanding of Special Education instructional strategies including differentiated instruction, curriculum modifications, and student accommodations. Essential skills include experience with Individualized Education Program (IEP) development and implementation, familiarity with Response to Intervention (RTI), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and current Special Education legal policies. Knowledge of state and district compliance and the ability to upload IEPs to the Student Education Record (SER) website is beneficial. Collaboration with teachers, parents, and school leaders to advocate for students is also required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education
  • 3+ years of experience teaching special education students
  • Strong knowledge of Special Education instructional strategies
  • Experience with IEP development and implementation
  • Familiarity with RTI, BIP, and current legal policy in regard to Special Education
  • Knowledge of state and district compliance and uploading IEPs to the SER website
  • Ability to collaborate with various teachers, parents, and school leaders
  • Knowledge of State standards and Louisiana State Standards (preferred)
  • Certification or interest in achieving certification in multiple areas (plus)

Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who are certified in Special Education and have experience working with students in a variety of settings, including but not limited to, inclusive classrooms, resource rooms, and specialized programs. Additionally, candidates should have a passion for teaching and a commitment to providing high-quality educational experiences for all students.

Pay

Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

The position is available from August 2026 onwards, with a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of both the teacher and the students.
