About the role
Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy seeks a Lower School Special Education Teacher.
Responsibilities
- Teach students with special educational needs following established curricula and standards.
- Implement differentiated instruction, modify curriculum and assessments, and provide necessary accommodations.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Utilize Response to Intervention (RTI), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and adhere to relevant legal policies.
- Collaborate with other educators, parents, and school leaders to support and advocate for students.
- Be familiar with state and district compliance requirements and upload IEPs to the SER website.
- Knowledge of State testing and Louisiana State Standards is preferred.
- Preference will be given to candidates who are certified or pursuing certification in multiple areas.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education.
- 3+ years of experience working with special education students in a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of Special Education instructional strategies including differentiated instruction, curriculum modifications, and assessment adaptations.
- Experience with IEP development and implementation.
- Understanding of Response to Intervention (RTI), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and familiarity with relevant legal policies.
- Familiarity with state and district compliance procedures and the ability to upload IEPs to the SER website.
Qualifications
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and school leaders.

- Certification or interest in obtaining certification in multiple areas is a plus.
