Special Education Teacher

About the role

Located on a beautiful 10-acre campus in the heart of Scottsdale, Devereux Arizona’s 24-hour RTC and Therapeutic School serves 52 children aged 5 to 17 with emotional, behavioral, or substance abuse challenges.

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans and proficiently deliver curriculum using available digital teaching methods and educational models aligned with state standards.
• Assess student performance objectives on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
• Align content within the Arizona State Standards and Common Core Standards, and collaborate with teaching colleagues to plan, facilitate, and teach literacy instruction.
• Maintain the physical, emotional well-being and safety of all students in the classroom.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.
• AZ Special Education Certification required.
• One (1) year experience teaching in a Special Education classroom preferred.

Qualifications

• Understanding of learning theories related to working with multiple handicapped individuals.
• Must be 21 years of age or older (per licensing standards).
• Valid Arizona Driver's License & pass DMV 36-month history check.
• Pre-employment Physical and Job Demand Assessment (if applicable).
• Drug test within 24hrs of offer w/ negative results.
• Ability to attend full time New Hire Orientation for two (2) weeks.

$60,000 - $66,000
