About the role
The Collaborative for Educational Services (SEIS) is hiring Special Education Teachers for youth up to age 22 at the County House of Corrections in Northampton, MA and Hampden County Correctional Center at Stony Brook in Ludlow, MA. This position offers a supportive, structured environment focused on student growth.
Responsibilities
- Teach in small classes of up to 7 students
- Work closely with dedicated behavioral support staff
- Implement a flexible curriculum tailored to individual needs
- Contribute to a phone-free classroom environment to enhance engagement
- Participate in professional development opportunities
- Apply for the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System if eligible
- Optional participation in a summer program
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- Massachusetts teacher licensure in Mild-to-Moderate Disabilities 5-12
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching high-risk youth
- Strong commitment to social justice and equity
- Multilingual and/or multicultural candidates are desirable
Qualifications
- Licensed in Moderate Disabilities (5-12)
- Or actively working toward certification
- Patient, adaptable, and trauma-informed approach to instruction
- Collaborative mindset, comfortable working alongside behavioral and clinical staff
Skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to adapt to diverse learning environments
- Experience with trauma-informed practices

- Competitive salary range: \$59,523 - \$84,303 annually

Schedule
Consistent schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-3:30 PM. No evenings, no weekends.
