About the Role

Provide academic, community, and social instruction to support the educational programming and physical needs of special education students assigned to the Intermediate Unit programs. Plans curriculum, prepares lessons, and other instructional materials to meet the needs of the students, aligned with the Commonwealth of PA standards. This position is not eligible for remote work, telecommunicating, or off-site work arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Regular attendance and reliable on-site presence
  • Oversee the safety of students and staff throughout the day
  • Adapt and modify instructional materials
  • Maintain technology for students and classroom
  • Collect data daily/weekly on all Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and report in accordance with the school districts' reporting schedule
  • Develop, write, and implement IEPs
  • Utilize evidence-based instructional materials and assessment
  • Follow school-wide positive behavior support plan and individualized behavior plans

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s Degree
  • PA Special Education Certification
  • PA K-12 Regular Education Certification
  • Ability to communicate effectively across a variety of team members, including parents

  • Regularly required to sit and use hands
  • Frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear
  • May be required to stand for long periods, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Schedule

This is a full-time, 193-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, dependent on the needs of the districts. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Some travel may be required for out-of-school meetings.
