Special Education Teacher Assistant STEPS (Social Thinking, Executive Functioning, Positive Behavior Supports) - School Year 2026-2027 (Anticipated Vacancies)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to Texas Education Agency and district policies and procedures.
• Assist in carrying out the instructional program under the supervision of the teaching personnel.
• Follow teacher instruction and guidance.
• Aid in teacher-planned activities, exercises, and drills.
• Assist with student management, including maintaining student records.
• Participate in planned in-service and professional growth activities related to Special Education and other topics.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications/Skills

• Minimum of 48 college hours or high school diploma/equivalent plus pass a District Assessment.
• Educational Aide Certification.
• Ability to work with children using appropriate interpersonal skills.
• Background related to working with children and parents.
• Physical capacity to lift, transfer, and otherwise assist students with physical disabilities (e.g., ability to lift 50 lbs.).
• Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
• Knowledge regarding Autism and/or behavior preferred.
• Bus driver training as needed, or as required.
