About the role
Oswego Community Unit School District 308 is seeking a Special Education Teacher Assistant to support students with specialized needs.
Responsibilities
- Support students with academic, behavioral, and health/hygiene needs as directed by Special Education Teachers
- Assist students in achieving their goals and reaching their highest potential
- Apply best practices for working with children and young adults with specialized needs
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with other special education staff, teachers, and families to ensure student success
- Assist with daily routines and activities, including but not limited to meal times, bathroom breaks, and transitions between activities
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of special education principles and practices
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Physical ability to lift and move up to thirty pounds without assistance or to assist with lifting and moving up to fifty pounds
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required for field trips)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field preferred
- Experience working with students with special needs
- Current CPR and First Aid certification

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in using technology and software relevant to special education
