About the role
Special Education Teacher Assistants support the academic, behavioral, and health/hygiene needs of students with specialized needs as directed by Special Education Teachers.
Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Support students with a wide range of special needs
- Work collaboratively with Special Education Teachers, other teachers, and staff
- Provide direct instruction and support in various settings
- Monitor student progress and report to relevant personnel
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License
- Current CPR certification
- Knowledge of special education best practices
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field preferred
- Experience working with individuals with special needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
