About the role

Special Education Teacher Assistants support the academic, behavioral, and health/hygiene needs of students with specialized needs as directed by Special Education Teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Support students with a wide range of special needs
  • Work collaboratively with Special Education Teachers, other teachers, and staff
  • Provide direct instruction and support in various settings
  • Monitor student progress and report to relevant personnel
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License
  • Current CPR certification
  • Knowledge of special education best practices
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
