About the role
Oswego Community Unit School District 308 is seeking a Special Education Teacher Assistant to support students with specialized needs.
Responsibilities
- Support students with academic, behavioral, and health/hygiene needs as directed by Special Education Teachers.
- Assist students in achieving their goals and reaching their highest potential.
- Apply best practices for working with children and young adults with specialized needs.
- Show skill in applying general written and verbal guidance to specific work situations.
- Have the ability to lift and move up to thirty pounds without assistance or to assist with lifting and moving up to fifty pounds.
Requirements
- Desire to assist students with specialized needs.
- Knowledge (or the ability to obtain knowledge of) best practices for working with children and young adults that have specialized needs.
- General skill in applying written and verbal guidance to specific work situations.
- Able to lift and move up to thirty pounds without assistance or to assist with lifting and moving up to fifty pounds.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience working with individuals with special needs preferred.
