Up to 29.5 hours per week, voucher position, no benefits.
Responsibilities
- Provides instructional support to special education teacher.
- Assists in teaching daily living skills, social skills, leisure-time activity skills, specific self-help skills, community access, and mobility skills.
- Ability to lift 45 pounds; can require lifting, positioning, and carrying of students.
- Encourages and reinforces students, building self-image and helping them to be responsible.
- Assists the teacher with student behavior management.
- Provides instruction to students under the direction of the special education teacher.
- Assists teacher with clerical duties.
- Accompanies students to mainstream classes, supervising and assisting during class and times between classes.
- Assists students with feeding, personal hygiene, toileting, diapering, and changing clothes.
- Assists students with group and club participation during school hours.
- Assists in planning and supervising field trips and other off-campus activities.
- Follows the teacher's program when working with students.
- Tracks student progress and collects student behavioral data.
- Consistently follows behavior system and classroom management program.
- Tutors students in small groups with basic reading and math skills.
- Maintains positive working relationships with students and staff.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate Degree, 48 semester hours of college credit, or must have passed the Para-Pro Test or be willing to take and pass the Para-Pro Test immediately upon hire.
- Successful experience working with children at risk.
- Successful experience as an at-risk teaching assistant.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.

Pay
As per district salary schedule.
