Special Education Teacher - $2,394 per week

Centra Healthcare Allied is seeking an experienced School Special Education Teacher for a travel contract position in The Bronx, New York.

About the role

This is a full-time, 40-week contract role in a school setting, starting 08/24/2026. The position requires 40 hours per week, with an 8-hour day shift.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and provide instruction for small groups and individuals.
• Identify and support students considered “at-risk” in collaboration with necessary personnel.
• Design and execute individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs in collaboration with classroom teachers.
• Utilize developmentally appropriate and rigorous curricula aligned to benchmarks and Common Core State standards.
• Present new ideas and concepts through varied strategies to inspire student exploration and expression.
• Modify instructional plans to accommodate individual student’s special needs.
• Administer, collect, and analyze qualitative and quantitative assessment data.
• Build relationships with students’ families through regular communication about progress and ways to support learning.
• Participate in school-wide student assessments to diagnose needs.
• Provide resources and supports for classroom teachers to implement intervention strategies.
• Refer students for special services when necessary.
• Participate in meetings to develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and suggest appropriate supports.
• Maintain organized records of student progress and provide up-to-date reports.
• Advocate for students by staying knowledgeable about Special Education law.

Requirements

• New York State Special Education Teacher Certification required.
• At least 2 years of teaching experience required.
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Master's Degree preferred.

Pay

Pay package is based on 8.0-hour shifts and 40.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
