School Services - School Special Education Teacher - $2,394 per week

Centra Healthcare Allied is seeking a certified Special Education Teacher for a contract, full-time travel position in a school setting in The Bronx, New York.

About the Role

This is a 40-week assignment starting on 08/24/2026, with a schedule of 40 hours per week, 8-hour day shifts.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and provide instruction for small groups and individuals.
• Identify and support students who are considered “at-risk” in collaboration with necessary personnel.
• Design and execute individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs in collaboration with classroom teachers.
• Utilize developmentally appropriate and rigorous curricula and instructional materials aligned to benchmarks and Common Core State standards.
• Present students with new ideas and concepts through a variety of strategies, inspiring and guiding them to explore and express their own ideas.
• Modify instructional plans to accommodate individual student’s special needs.
• Administer, collect, and analyze both qualitative and quantitative data from assessments.
• Build relationships with students’ families through regular communication about at-risk/IEP students’ progress and provide ways families can support learning.
• Participate in school-wide student assessments to diagnose students’ needs.
• Provide resources and supports for classroom teachers to implement intervention strategies.
• Refer students for special services when necessary.
• Participate in meetings to develop and review Individual Education Plans and suggest appropriate supports.
• Maintain organized records of student progress and provide up-to-date reports.
• Advocate for students by staying knowledgeable about Special Education law.

Requirements

• New York State Special Education Teacher Certification required.
• At least 2 years of teaching experience required.
• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
