RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Affirms the educational needs of assigned patients.
  • Contacts previous educational settings and reviews available records.
  • Assesses, supervises, or approves educational needs before the Diagnostic Conference.
  • Prepares assessments and lesson plans according to departmental format.
  • Generates lesson plans promptly and ensures they are detailed enough for substitutes.
  • Maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Assigns academic tasks and materials to students at the start of the day.
  • Establishes and communicates classroom rules and schedules.
  • Provides individualized assistance to students as needed.
  • Behaves professionally and reports to work on time.
  • Prepares for leave and notifies supervisors accordingly.
  • Communicates effectively with team members and interprets evaluation findings.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and suggests improvements.
  • Shares expertise and supports other educational staff members.
  • Complies with hospital and departmental policies and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education from the Rhode Island Department of Education, including appropriate handicapped certifications.
  • One year of teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in caring for patients across the lifespan, considering aging processes, developmental stages, and cultural patterns.

PAY

$50,523.20 - $83,345.60 annually

SCHEDULE

Full-time, School days, Day shift, 8 hours per day
