RESPONSIBILITIES
- Affirms the educational needs of assigned patients.
- Contacts previous educational settings and reviews available records.
- Assesses, supervises, or approves educational needs before the Diagnostic Conference.
- Prepares assessments and lesson plans according to departmental format.
- Generates lesson plans promptly and ensures they are detailed enough for substitutes.
- Maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Assigns academic tasks and materials to students at the start of the day.
- Establishes and communicates classroom rules and schedules.
- Provides individualized assistance to students as needed.
- Behaves professionally and reports to work on time.
- Prepares for leave and notifies supervisors accordingly.
- Communicates effectively with team members and interprets evaluation findings.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and suggests improvements.
- Shares expertise and supports other educational staff members.
- Complies with hospital and departmental policies and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in special education from the Rhode Island Department of Education, including appropriate handicapped certifications.
- One year of teaching experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in caring for patients across the lifespan, considering aging processes, developmental stages, and cultural patterns.
PAY
$50,523.20 - $83,345.60 annually
