About the role
To support the Child Find Individualized Education Programs (IEP) team in assessment and identification of children ages 3-5 young children who are transitioning from Part C (Infants and Toddlers) to Part B (special education) services, in accessing the general education curriculum, in the least restrictive environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the IEP process, ensuring adherence to regulations and procedures including the development of the IEP.
- Support team planning for children transitioning from the Infants and Toddlers Program (ITP) to preschool special education services and assist with any required follow-up.
- Conduct developmental and educational (formal and informal) assessments of children, including entry and exit assessments for children who are referred to Infants and Toddlers within four months of their third birthday.
- Demonstrate competency in the use of formal and informal assessment tools for preschoolers 3-5 years of age.
- Utilize authentic assessment, information regarding child participation in everyday routines, and Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) to inform development of IEP goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with parents, Baltimore County Public School staff, Infants and Toddlers staff, and community based private providers to support (Part C to Part B) transition planning.
- Observe children in private preschools and other natural environments.
- Provide consultation to the school staff and families regarding speech-language development and its connection to the curriculum.
- Identify students appropriate for speech and language services based on individual needs and prescribed guidelines.
- Complete oral and written reports in a clear and concise manner using recommended formats and timelines.
- Develop functional and measurable goals for IEPs that are directly related to students documented needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education, Training And Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in the field of Speech-Language Pathology. Two years of experience delivering services for children under the age of five, and/or knowledge and background in the IEP process, and/or evaluation experience is preferred.
- Licenses And Certificates: Possession of a Speech-Language Pathology License from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) required. American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) preferred or CFY (Clinical Fellowship Year) eligible.

- SALARY: $74,080 - $145,090
- Other Compensation: Position may be eligible for extra duty activities pay, or other student activities pay as defined in the applicable Bargaining Unit Agreement.
