Special Education Self Contained Teacher
About the role
The Special Education Self Contained Teacher at K12, a Stride Company, is responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. This role requires a Bachelor’s degree, active Colorado Special Education Teaching Certification, and residency in Colorado.
Responsibilities
- Deliver specific course content in an online environment
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance to students with special needs
- Manage the learning process and focus on students' individual needs as defined by their Individualized Education Program (IEP)
- Work actively with students and parents to advance each student's learning
- Ensure compliance with all required special education documents and records
- Collaborate with parents and related service staff to ensure students with special needs are receiving the appropriate therapies
- Develop and lead compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other state-specific special education documentation
- Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings such as annual IEP meetings
- Use provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities, including assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text
- Make modifications and accommodations to Stride K12 lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP
- Ensure inclusion and success of students in the general education classroom
- Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals and objectives
- Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed
- Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students
- Demonstrate a belief in all students' ability to succeed and meet high expectations
- Maintain grade book ensuring student academic integrity, make student placement and promotion decisions, and alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
- Embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
- Support learning coaches/parents with student curricular and instructional issues, as well as basic troubleshooting in a virtual classroom environment that aligns with academy policies and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Active state teaching license
- Residency in Colorado
- Colorado Special Education Teaching Certification
Qualifications
- Experience working with the proposed age group
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
- Experience teaching online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment
- Experience with online learning platform
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong written/verbal communication skills
- Receptive to receiving coaching on a regular basis with administrators

The salary range for this position is $54,555.00 - $68,194.00, and offers the possibility of a bonus.

Schedule
This is a full-time position requiring 40+ hours per week. Ability to work independently and maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school is required.
