About the role
Cologne Academy (PreKindergarten-8th Grade Public School) is located in Carver County and currently enrolls approximately 750 students between its onsite and virtual academy.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the mission and vision of Cologne Academy which focuses on academics and character development.
- Teach using the Core Knowledge curriculum and provide an individualized approach to learning.
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, special education team members, and parents.
- Implement specialized instruction in reading, written expression, and mathematics, as well as other areas such as social skills, executive functioning skills, and functional skills.
- Write and conduct teacher components of special education evaluations.
- Use instructional technology and create schedules for managing paraprofessionals.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and parents.
Requirements
- Knowledge and experience in specialized instruction in reading, written expression, and mathematics.
- Continuous progress monitoring skills.
- Experience in specialized instruction in social skills, executive functioning skills, and functional skills.
- Ability to write and conduct teacher components of special education evaluations.
- Proficiency in using instructional technology.
- Ability to create schedules and manage paraprofessionals.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with general education teachers, special education team members, and for providing information to parents.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
- A master's degree in education or a related field preferred.
- A valid teaching license in Minnesota.
- Experience working with students with special needs.
- Experience with the Core Knowledge curriculum.
