About the role

Cologne Academy (PreKindergarten-8th Grade Public School) is located in Carver County and currently enrolls approximately 750 students between its onsite and virtual academy.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the mission and vision of Cologne Academy which focuses on academics and character development.
  • Teach using the Core Knowledge curriculum and provide an individualized approach to learning.
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers, special education team members, and parents.
  • Implement specialized instruction in reading, written expression, and mathematics, as well as other areas such as social skills, executive functioning skills, and functional skills.
  • Write and conduct teacher components of special education evaluations.
  • Use instructional technology and create schedules for managing paraprofessionals.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and parents.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience in specialized instruction in reading, written expression, and mathematics.
  • Continuous progress monitoring skills.
  • Experience in specialized instruction in social skills, executive functioning skills, and functional skills.
  • Ability to write and conduct teacher components of special education evaluations.
  • Proficiency in using instructional technology.
  • Ability to create schedules and manage paraprofessionals.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with general education teachers, special education team members, and for providing information to parents.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • A master's degree in education or a related field preferred.
  • A valid teaching license in Minnesota.
  • Experience working with students with special needs.
  • Experience with the Core Knowledge curriculum.
