Duties

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with state standards and student needs
  • Adapt curriculum materials to support students with autism, deaf education needs, visual impairments, and other disabilities
  • Provide direct instruction in literacy, math, social skills, and life skills through engaging lesson plans and activities
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate special education strategies into general education settings
  • Utilize learning technology and instructional design techniques to enhance student engagement and understanding
  • Conduct behavioral therapy sessions, apply behavior management techniques, and implement applied behavior analysis (ABA) strategies
  • Support early intervention efforts and provide specialized services such as speech therapy or music therapy when applicable
  • Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, conduct assessments including standardized testing, and update IEPs regularly
  • Mentor colleagues on best practices for working with children with disabilities and facilitate professional development sessions

Experience

  • Proven classroom experience working with children in grades 4–6 within a special education setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development tailored for learners with autism, developmental disabilities, or hearing impairments
  • Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, behavior management strategies, and inclusive teaching practices
  • Experience in working with individuals who have visual impairments or are deaf/hard of hearing is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with learning technology tools, instructional design software, and assessment methods such as standardized testing
  • Background in early childhood education or preschool experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with students, families, staff, and external specialists
  • Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering a positive learning environment

Pay

$47,151.00 – $107,811.00 per year
