Special Education: R2 1:1 Paraprofessional (2 of 3)

Provides instructional, behavioral, social-emotional, personal, and supervisory support to students with significant and/or complex special education needs under the direction of certificated staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in accessing instruction and participating meaningfully in the school environment.
• Support the development of students' independence and functional skills.
• Help students make progress toward goals identified through their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Provide a higher level or intensity of adult assistance to ensure students can access learning and participate safely and successfully in school activities.
• May include recess/lunch supervision.

About the Role

• R2 Special Education Base Paraeducator: Assigned to the R2 special education program; may support multiple students throughout the school day.
• Special Education 1:1 Paraeducator: Provides individualized support to a specific student as determined by the student's IEP and educational team. The nature and level of support may change based on the student's IEP, educational needs, progress, placement, or other determinations made by the student's IEP team.
