Special Education Paraprofessionals and Registered Behavioral Technicians
JOB SUMMARY
Assists classroom teachers and specialists in reinforcing core curriculum, specialized lessons, and behavior plans to facilitate student learning. This role ensures an inclusive environment by implementing modifications and accommodations for students with diverse needs, providing both general classroom support and targeted intervention under the guidance of the instructional team.

- High School Diploma, Associate Degree in Education, or related field preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning and Preparation:
- Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and instructional materials under the direction of the classroom teacher, special education case manager, or specialist to support both general student learning goals and specific Individualized Education Program (IEP) objectives.
- Classroom Environment:
- Maintains a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring individual and/or groups of students in various settings.
- Maintains students’ daily schedule and behavior plan.
- Instruction:
- Implements instructional programs and lesson plans to present or reinforce learning concepts for individuals and groups under the direction of the classroom teacher, special education case manager, or specialist.
- Provides instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities to facilitate general learning goals and/or the specific implementation of Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
- Executes behavior intervention plans for students with specialized needs or conditions to ensure a productive learning environment, reinforce academic concepts, and meet documented behavioral or social-emotional goals.
- Professional Responsibilities:
- Communicates with teachers and other district personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing IEP goals.
- Attends meetings and in-service presentations as assigned for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job responsibilities.
- Documents student progress with accurate and accessible systems for tracking student learning and other records, and uses these systems efficiently and effectively.
- Contributes to the school community and culture by participating in events, programs, or activities that further the culture of learning in the school and brings the values of the school to life through modeling and positive action.
- Regularly seeks out and identifies high-quality opportunities to grow and learn, and identifies problems of practice or areas of inquiry that inform individual and collaborative learning opportunities.
- Exhibits high standards of ethical practice and wise decision-making on behalf of students, families, and colleagues.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the special education coordinator or principal.
- Additional Responsibilities May Include:
- Lift, move, and operate adaptive equipment.
- Absorb and apply new information quickly.
- Assist students with personal care tasks, including but not limited to clothing, hygiene, diapering, toileting, and wash-up routines.
- Assist students with mobility needs, such as lifting and positioning students, lifting in and out of wheelchairs, loading and unloading on the bus, and transporting students in and around the school.
