Special Education Paraprofessional

Essential Job Functions

• Affords support and guidance to students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, and other skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and implement assigned programs.
• Aids students with disabilities with activities of daily living to maximize their participation in school or learning activities.
• Maintains records to document student learning, progress, and performance.
• Affords assistance with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and keep students on task.
• Fulfills all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the provision of assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs.
• Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students, employees, and others.
• Affords support in non-instructional areas such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, corridor, study hall, and other related activities.
• Establishes a supportive and compassionate relationship with students.

Qualifications

• Any combination of education (high school diploma or equivalent) and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.
