Special Education Paraprofessional

About the role

The Special Education Paraprofessional at Highpoint Virtual Academy of Michigan (HVAM) supports students with special needs, working closely with teachers and administrators to implement individualized educational plans.

Responsibilities

• Aid in delivering instruction using differentiated methods aligned with students' IEP goals
• Collaborate with special education and general education teachers to develop and implement effective teaching strategies
• Assist with testing for local and state assessments, and track student progress
• Facilitate communication between students, parents, teachers, and administrators
• Support the implementation of the Response to Intervention process
• Participate in school committee work and assist with various school-related activities
• Ensure compliance with company and district record-keeping requirements

Requirements

• Must reside in Michigan
• 60 credits/Associates Degree and one (1) year of supporting students
• Microsoft Office proficiency
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Ability to travel 20% of the time for meetings, professional development, state testing, etc.

Qualifications

• Desired qualifications include online school experience and previous experience in an online setting

• Knowledge of state standards and testing requirements
• Ability to work independently and manage a professional home office
• Proficiency in web applications

Schedule

This is a full-time position requiring approximately 40+ hours per week, typically from 9 AM to 5 PM (or 8 AM to 4 PM).
