About the role
As a Special Education Paraprofessional at Edmentum, you'll be a meaningful presence in the lives of students with disabilities as they navigate virtual learning. This is a role for someone who shows up consistently, cares about student success, and finds genuine satisfaction in watching a student click with a concept they struggled with before. Working alongside a dedicated team of certified special education teachers, you'll help students access instruction, stay engaged, and build confidence as they work toward goals that matter for their future.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct academic support to students with disabilities in a virtual setting, reinforcing instructional content, guiding students through assignments, and helping them build skills aligned to their IEP goals.
- Assist in implementing IEP accommodations and modifications, including extended time, read-aloud support, and organizational strategies, ensuring every student receives the services they are entitled to with care and consistency.
- Monitor student participation and progress, capturing observations and data as directed, and keeping the instructional team informed with timely, relevant updates.
- Collaborate with special education teachers, content instructors, and affiliate staff, contributing to a student-centered team that communicates openly and works in sync.
- Foster student independence and positive engagement in an online learning environment, implementing behavior support strategies and providing the encouragement students need to stay motivated and on track.
- Willing to take on evolving responsibilities based on business needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; postsecondary coursework, an associate's degree, or higher preferred.
- Meet at least one of the following qualifications: a passing score on the ParaPro Praxis, ACT WorkKeys Basic Skills Assessment or equivalent assessment, an associate's degree or higher, or two or more years of completed college coursework.
- Experience supporting students with disabilities in an academic setting and understand the commitment that work requires.
- Comfortable working within virtual learning platforms and navigating digital tools with confidence.
- Strong communication skills and ability to document student observations clearly and share updates with a team in a professional, timely way.
- Organized, dependable, and able to manage your time effectively while supporting multiple students in a remote environment.
- Work well within a collaborative, virtual team and know when to ask for guidance and when to handle things independently.

Pay
Pay range for this role: $15—$20 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience and skill sets.
