Special Education Paraeducators (Part-Time) - Autistic Support Classroom - FV

About the role

The WASD is seeking caregivers and teacher assistants who have experience working with special needs individuals in a school setting or care facility. Autistic support paraeducators provide academic support and guidance, emotional support, behavior monitoring, and assist students with their personal care needs. Paraeducators work closely with teachers and other professional staff to support students' needs and goals to be successful in school. Transportation duties are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support and guidance to students
• Offer emotional support and behavior monitoring

Requirements

• Experience working with special needs individuals in a school setting or care facility
• Reliable and devoted approach to working with autistic students
• Background clearances required for all positions

Preferred Qualifications

• AED training, CPR, and First Aid certification

Pay & Schedule

• $18.29 per hour
• 5.75 hours per day
• 184 days per year

Benefits

• After 60 days of satisfactory performance, newly hired support staff will be reimbursed $200.00 to cover the cost of background checks, physical, and TB test
