About the role

The Special Education Paraeducator Aide III (1:1 HQ Resource) at Booth Elementary School supports teaching staff in a variety of instructional activities, providing individual or group assistance to students with intellectual, physical, or behavioral disabilities. This position requires a Highly Qualified status as per Nevada State Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in boarding and de-boarding students from buses before and after school.
  • Assist students in reaching proper locations in school.
  • Accompany students into general education classrooms.
  • Provide attendant services such as diapering, toileting, and washing faces as needed.
  • Support instruction in proper health and hygiene habits.
  • Perform delegated procedures like clean intermittent catheterization and provide emergency and first aid care.
  • Maintain discipline and order on the playground, lunchroom, and classrooms.
  • Communicate with special education teachers about concerns and observations of students.
  • Assist in maintaining bulletin boards in the classroom.
  • May assist children with medication when trained.
  • Assist in the operation of classroom equipment or students' assistive technology devices.
  • Assist in recording student progress towards goals and developing instructional materials.
  • Participate in district training programs and implement non-violent behavioral intervention procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completed at least 48 semester hours of credit at an accredited college or university.
  • Obtained an associate's degree or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Passed the ParaPro Assessment with a score of at least 460.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of special education methodologies and resources.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow safety and health protocols.
