Special Education Para-Self Contained Classroom

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Creativity and effective problem-solving skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Occasional physical requirements: bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, climbing, reaching above the shoulder, pushing, pulling, carrying/lifting up to 50 pounds
• Repetitive use of both hands for simple/firm grasping and fine manipulation
• Hearing and speaking abilities sufficient to monitor equipment and communicate with employees, students, and parents

Paraprofessional Certification is required (Coweta Public Schools can assist the hired applicant in obtaining this certification). The Board of Education and Superintendent may approve alternatives to the listed qualifications.

Schedule

175 days, 7 hours per day. Contracted days will be pro-rated to remaining contracted days for the current school year.

Responsibilities

• Assignments will vary throughout the district; may be assigned to an individual teacher or multiple teachers
• Assist teachers by addressing individual student needs
• Support in-classroom tutoring, preparation of classroom materials, inventories, and required reports
• Serve on duty schedule as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent

Reporting Structure

Reports to and is evaluated by the Building Principal. Does not supervise other staff.
