Special Education Teacher Assistant position at Northwest Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Paraprofessional Certification is required (Coweta Public Schools can help hired applicant obtain this certification).
- Creativity and effective problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Occasional physical requirements:
- Bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, climbing, reaching above the shoulder, and pushing/pulling.
- Carrying/lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Use of both hands for repetitive actions involving simple/firm grasping and fine manipulation.
- Hearing and speaking abilities sufficient to monitor equipment and communicate with employees, students, and parents.
- The Board of Education and Superintendent may approve alternatives to the listed qualifications.
Schedule
175 days per school year, 7 hours per day. Contracted days will be pro-rated to remaining contracted days for the current school year.

Responsibilities
- Assignments will vary throughout the district; may be assigned to an individual teacher or to a variety of teachers.
- Assist teachers by providing for individual student needs.
- Support in-classroom tutoring and preparation of classroom materials, inventories, and required reports.
- Serve on duty schedule as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent.

- Reports to: Building Principal.
- Evaluated by: Building Principal.
- Does not supervise other staff.
