Special Education Teacher Assistant position at Northwest Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Paraprofessional Certification is required (Coweta Public Schools can help hired applicant obtain this certification).
  • Creativity and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Occasional physical requirements:
    • Bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, climbing, reaching above the shoulder, and pushing/pulling.
    • Carrying/lifting up to 50 pounds.
    • Use of both hands for repetitive actions involving simple/firm grasping and fine manipulation.
  • Hearing and speaking abilities sufficient to monitor equipment and communicate with employees, students, and parents.
  • The Board of Education and Superintendent may approve alternatives to the listed qualifications.

Schedule

175 days per school year, 7 hours per day. Contracted days will be pro-rated to remaining contracted days for the current school year.

Responsibilities

  • Assignments will vary throughout the district; may be assigned to an individual teacher or to a variety of teachers.
  • Assist teachers by providing for individual student needs.
  • Support in-classroom tutoring and preparation of classroom materials, inventories, and required reports.
  • Serve on duty schedule as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent.

  • Reports to: Building Principal.
  • Evaluated by: Building Principal.
  • Does not supervise other staff.
