Special Education Moderate/Severe Disabilities - Elementary Teacher

Basic Functions

To plan and implement the education of students with Moderate, Severe and Multiple Disabilities.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• To plan Individual Education Programs (IEP) for students who have significant mental and physical disabilities.
• To implement, teach and provide physical care of students who have significant mental and physical disabilities.
• To work with general education teachers in order to foster appropriate inclusion of students in the school setting.
• To plan and implement Community Based Education as deemed appropriate.
• To supervise classroom paraprofessionals in order to provide the physical care and safety of the students.
• To possess excellent parent/teacher communication skills and problem solving.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

• Minimum of Bachelor's Degree
• Indiana Certification in Intense Intervention
• Experience in a culturally diverse setting
• Strong work ethic and commitment to ongoing professional development and training
• Expertise in the following: interpersonal skills, organization and management, written and verbal communication and use of technology
