Job Summary
To maximize the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills, and activities of daily living, by implementing district-approved curriculum with necessary modifications and accommodations.
Document teaching and student progress/outcomes, address students' specific needs, provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
Education, Experience, And Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education required; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid Professional Educator Licensure from the Illinois State Board of Education.
- TLSI endorsement.
- Two years of successful special education teaching experience highly preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout school and classroom.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to assist students who have physical difficulties.
- Must be able to kneel, sit, stand, crawl, push, and pull to assist and teach children throughout the day.
- Prolonged periods sitting and working on computer to complete necessary paperwork.
Terms Of Employment
- 180 day/10 month position.
- Evaluation conducted in accordance with the evaluation plan, the Illinois School Code and applicable regulations of the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Salary and increase set by Professional Negotiation Contract.
Working Conditions
- In person and on site in a school/classroom environment.
- Closed contact with school age children.
