Qualifications

  • Education: At least 48 college hours required, bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Experience: Classroom experience or working with children

  • Licenses/Certifications: Willingness to pursue a Special Education teaching certification

  • Knowledge and Skills: Instructing students, managing behavior, organizing, communicating, and interacting effectively

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the educational and social development of students

  • Implement Individual Education Plans and monitor student progress

  • Support individual students inside and outside the classroom

  • Work with other professionals like speech therapists, social workers, and therapists

  • Maintain student records

  • Assist students with emotional or behavioral concerns

  • Provide assistance with daily living tasks in the Life Skills Unit

  • May need to assist with school bus rides before or after school
