Special Education Classroom Assistant (10 Month + 30 Days Contract)

About the role

We are looking for dynamic teaching assistants who want to work with a young, autistic population in an ABA setting. This is an ideal position for anyone looking to start a career in education with a goal of becoming a teacher or becoming a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst).

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision of assigned students in a safe, supportive, and positive classroom climate.
• Develop in each student the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet and exceed the approved curricula and directives of the school.
• Work collaboratively with other members of the school staff and with parents.
• Strive to meet the highly effective criteria for the implementation of a School Wide Positive Behavior Support system and the recording of daily behavioral data.
• Address the needs of diverse learners through classroom environment, leadership, and professionalism.

Requirements

• Possess 60 college credits from an accredited post-secondary institution OR hold Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills and the ability to motivate and instruct students.
• Showcase expertise and experience in using 21st Century based/Web 2.0 technology tools and protocols.

• 10 month school year hours: 8am-3pm
• 30 day ESY hours: 8am-2pm
