About the role

The SPED Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) works at the Education and Administration Center (EAC) under the supervision of a registered school nurse, providing direct student care as outlined in each student's health care plan or IEP. The role involves collaboration with the special education team, may require relocation to another school if student needs change, and includes responsibilities such as attending IEP meetings, supporting IEP goals, and communicating progress to supervisors, staff, and parents. Recruiting begins June 11, 2026, with an estimated start date of September 7, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Report consistently for work as scheduled
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Attain proficient or higher evaluations on established performance standards
• Perform various direct student care activities under the supervision of a registered school nurse
• Utilize nursing skills for students requiring medical interventions (e.g., gastrostomy, vital signs, feeding, oxygen administration, diapering, ADL assistance, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene, range‑of‑motion exercises, transfers, ambulation)
• Attend and participate in students’ IEP meetings
• Independently support and implement students’ IEP goals and objectives in the school setting
• Act as a communication link to inform supervisors of progress, changes, problems, and equipment needs
• Provide ongoing communication with staff, parents, and supervisors regarding student progress
• Work environment may vary from quiet to loud; requires frequent in‑person and remote interaction with students, staff, and the public
• Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs. (or more with assistance), climbing stairs/ladders, reaching, grasping, and occasional physical restraint of students
