Special Education Assistant - MAB, (2 Positions) Prairie Heights Middle School

About the role

Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional and psychological growth and maturation. Reports to the building principal and department director where assigned.

Responsibilities

• Support the academic programming and progress of individual students and/or small groups of students with identified significant needs.
• Provide student-specific personal care and support.
• Assist with daily classroom activities.
• Assist in data collection.
• Sanitize equipment and materials.
• Provide support to staff.

Requirements

• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in environments with numerous distractions.
• Visual, auditory, and ambulatory acuity.
• Ability to move quickly from one position to another in response to student needs.
• Upper body strength with the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• AA degree or 48 semester hours or passing scores on WorkKeys exam.
• Preferred: CPI training (training provided).
• Preferred: CPR/First Aid (training provided).
• Previous experience working in school setting or with children with special needs.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Desire to work in team setting.
• Positive attitude.
• Paraprofessional experience preferred.
• Bilingual skills preferred, but not required.

Pay

$20.51 per hour plus benefits. Additional salary credit may be given for internal transfers and recent Greeley-Evans School District 6 rehires, up to $32.85 per hour plus benefits.

Schedule

2026–2027 school year, 182 days.
