Special Education Assistant - Fairborn Intermediate School

About the role

This position supports the educational and physical needs of students with disabilities under the direction of the classroom teacher or special education supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and work with students with disabilities
• Ensure safety of students at all times
• Assist in necessary physical care to maintain health and welfare of students
• Maintain confidentiality of student information
• Work effectively with staff, students, and families
• Communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee

Requirements

• Minimum of a high school diploma
• Must be highly qualified (HQ) or able to become highly qualified
• Meet qualifications set by the State of Ohio Department of Education to obtain an educational aide permit

Working Conditions

• Occasional interaction with students exhibiting challenging behaviors
• Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
• Duty-free lunch may not be available depending on position needs

Pay

$18.56 per hour (starting pay)

Schedule

7:50 am – 3:20 pm, 7 hours per day, for the 2026-27 school year
