Special Education Aide

Responsibilities

• Congduct one-on-one tutoring sessions with students who have special education needs
• Develop customized lesson plans and teaching strategies that align with each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
• Adapt instructional methods, materials, and assessments to cater to the unique learning styles and requirements of each student
• Monitor and document student progress, making adjustments to instructional techniques as needed
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and special education teams to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational experience
• Maintain open and regular communication with parents or guardians to discuss student progress and address any concerns
• Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that supports the emotional and behavioral development of students

Requirements

• Ability to commute to/from Oakland, CA
• Previous experience with special education, accommodations, and working with students with learning disabilities - REQUIRED
• Credentialed Special Education Teacher - HIGHLY PREFERRED
• Bachelor's degree
• Ability to make learning fun and interactive, with the focus of the tutoring often determined by student questions and comments
• Pass a background check if required
