About the role

The Center for Developmental Disabilities seeks a Special Ed Certified Teacher to join our dynamic team in Woodbury, NY.

Responsibilities

- Evaluate students and develop goals for their Individual Educational Plans. - Develop and differentiate appropriate lesson plans and educational activities to meet individual educational needs. - Supervise, assist, and train staff, teacher aides, and substitute aides in all activities, lessons, classroom management, and ADL skills. - Participate in crisis intervention to ensure safety for all students with minimal disruption of classroom activities. - Ensure appropriate educational instruction is implemented by all program staff throughout the school day, including during instructional lunch and recreational activities. - Efficiently and promptly document necessary student or Center business documentation, including data sheets, progress reports, NY State Alternate Assessments, lesson plans, communication logs, treatment team summary sheets, and Partnership Summary sheets.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field. - NYS Certification in Special Education. - Valid NYS Drivers License preferred. - Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is preferred. - Ability to perform physical activities such as twisting, bending, crouching, pulling, pushing. - Ability to sit, walk, drive, and stand for prolonged periods of time. - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
