Special Deputy - Court Services Unit

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a sworn deputy position assigned to the Court Services Unit. Candidates must currently be certifiable law enforcement officers. Retired law enforcement officers are encouraged to apply.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in the screening of all persons and property entering the court level of the Ozaukee County Justice Center and operates equipment necessary to maintain facility security
• Provides security in the courtrooms as required and is responsible for the general good order and security of Justice Center employees and the public
• Maintains facility security by monitoring interior and exterior of the Justice Center building for potential threats to security
• Monitors and ensures compliance with all statutes and ordinances as they apply to the Justice Center, court visitors, and assigned employees
• Serves civil process and other court orders and is responsible for proper maintenance and service of arrest warrants
• Covers court bailiff duties in cooperation with the jail staff and the courts when needed
• Handles public relations and interacts with all visitors to the courts as necessary or directed

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 60 college credits in addition to high school diploma or equivalent
• U.S. Citizen; minimum age – 21
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record
• Ability to possess a firearm
• No felony convictions; no domestic abuse convictions
• Clear and concise speech
• Ability to perform essential job functions of the position
• Be certified as a Law Enforcement Officer by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is typically indoors within the Ozaukee County Justice Center. This is a uniformed position.
