About the role
Our client, a well-established community bank, is seeking a diligent and experienced Special Assets Manager to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the bank's Special Assets portfolio, focusing on the review, analysis, and resolution of criticized and non-performing commercial and consumer loans. You will work closely with credit, legal, and executive teams to develop strategies for risk mitigation and asset recovery, ensuring the bank's portfolio quality and financial performance remain strong.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of adversely classified, non-performing, and problem loans for both commercial and consumer lines
- Develop, implement, and monitor asset workout strategies, restructures, liquidations, and collection plans
- Perform comprehensive credit analysis and loan reviews to assess borrower risk and recommend appropriate action steps
- Collaborate with borrowers, attorneys, and internal stakeholders to facilitate modifications, documentation, and collections
- Prepare and present detailed reports regarding the status of Special Assets to executive and board-level management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable banking regulations, internal policies, and procedures
- Participate in the management of OREO (Other Real Estate Owned) assets, including valuation, maintenance, marketing, and disposition
- Maintain accurate loan files and documentation throughout the resolution process
- Stay informed on market trends, economic changes, and regulatory updates impacting special asset management
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in Special Assets, workouts, and credit analysis
- In-depth knowledge of commercial and consumer lending, loan documentation, bankruptcy, foreclosure, and collection processes
- Proven track record in managing and resolving complex credit relationships
- Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship management skills
- Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Proficiency with loan management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field or equivalent experience
