Job Summary

Manages a diverse portfolio of business and agricultural loans requiring special attention. Makes decisions on special asset credits or recommends to the EVP – Chief Credit Officer or Central Credit Committee. Works as a consultant with all business and agricultural lenders, assisting them in managing difficult credits. Manages, services, and liquidates the Bank's OREO assets and assists in the repossession and liquidation of personal property.

Essential Functions

  • Manages a portfolio of business and agricultural loans identified as “work with”, “work down”, or “work out” credits.
  • Reviews files and develops appropriate “work with” or exit strategies.
  • Upon transfer of a loan to Special Assets, meets and communicates with customers regularly, monitors financial performance, establishes action plans, monitors collateral, and provides updates to bank management.
  • Develops and implements strategies to recover principal from borrowers with charged-off loans.
  • Assists with the management and sale of the bank’s OREO assets.
  • Consults with lenders on the repossession and liquidation of personal property.
  • Aids the Credit Administration department in creating and revising loan policies for special assets, OREO, and personal property repossession.
  • Participates in quarterly Asset Review meetings and may be a voting member of the Central Credit Committee.

Other Functions

  • Completes required training sessions.
  • Maintains and reviews weekly overdraft and past due reports.
  • Performs special projects as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, or Accounting or ten years or more of collection management, or related banking experience and/or training.
  • Strong knowledge of Ag, Commercial, Commercial Real Estate, and SBA & FSA lending processes and regulations.
  • Strong credit underwriting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficient in computer software applications.
  • Solid understanding of collateral and loan documentation.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
