Spanish Literacy Tutor (K-5)

About the role

We are seeking passionate and knowledgeable Spanish Literacy Tutors to support K–12 students in developing their Spanish language and literacy skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalized Spanish literacy instruction based on student needs, learning goals, and curriculum standards.
  • Audit student strengths and areas for growth and develop customized learning plans.
  • Provide remedial support, enrichment opportunities, and supplemental practice assignments.
  • Foster student confidence, engagement, and academic success through effective teaching strategies.
  • Adapt instruction to accommodate a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with parents and guardians.
  • Collaborate with families to establish goals and provide regular updates on student achievement.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree.
  • Meet at least one of the following criteria:
    • Hold a valid California teaching credential (or equivalent certification).
    • Be a current student teacher enrolled in a teacher credential program.
    • Have at least two years of classroom teaching experience in a public, private, or charter school setting.
    • Have experience as a lecturer or course instructor at an accredited U.S. college or university.
    • Be a master’s or doctoral student with teaching assistant experience at an accredited U.S. college or university.
    • Native or near-native Spanish fluency.
    • Experience teaching Spanish language arts, bilingual education, dual-language programs, or Spanish literacy.
    • Familiarity with California State Standards and/or San Diego Unified School District curriculum.
    • Experience providing one-on-one tutoring or small-group instruction.
