About the role
We are seeking passionate and knowledgeable Spanish Literacy Tutors to support K–12 students in developing their Spanish language and literacy skills.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalized Spanish literacy instruction based on student needs, learning goals, and curriculum standards.
- Audit student strengths and areas for growth and develop customized learning plans.
- Provide remedial support, enrichment opportunities, and supplemental practice assignments.
- Foster student confidence, engagement, and academic success through effective teaching strategies.
- Adapt instruction to accommodate a variety of learning styles and abilities.
- Maintain clear, consistent communication with parents and guardians.
- Collaborate with families to establish goals and provide regular updates on student achievement.
Requirements
- Hold a bachelor’s degree.
- Meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Hold a valid California teaching credential (or equivalent certification).
- Be a current student teacher enrolled in a teacher credential program.
- Have at least two years of classroom teaching experience in a public, private, or charter school setting.
- Have experience as a lecturer or course instructor at an accredited U.S. college or university.
- Be a master’s or doctoral student with teaching assistant experience at an accredited U.S. college or university.
- Native or near-native Spanish fluency.
- Experience teaching Spanish language arts, bilingual education, dual-language programs, or Spanish literacy.
- Familiarity with California State Standards and/or San Diego Unified School District curriculum.
- Experience providing one-on-one tutoring or small-group instruction.
